TIBCO Mashery Enterprise Delivers New API Value for Businesses

By Steve Anderson
July 20, 2016

More and more businesses are turning to application programming interfaces (APIs) to drive operations and help spur development of useful tools. Recently, TIBCO brought out its Mashery Enterprise API platform, geared toward giving companies an edge in digital business by offering help at every point in the API lifecycle, from creation to integration and even to management after the fact.

Mashery Enterprise is being offered as a software-as-a-service (SaaS) tool, which means users can subscribe to the service and, when it's no longer needed, cancel the subscription and walk away clean. Users get access to an array of tools with the service, including support for several core API concepts ranging from microservices to routing and transformation. There's access for core business tools and data, and a “single pane of glass” approach to showing APIs and the subsequent interactions involved, making it easier to spot and close gaps between the various groups involved. Just to round it out, there's also support for some of the most high-end API design features like multichannel support.

TIBCO executive vice president for products and technology—and chief technology officer—Matt Quinn commented, “It's our goal to provide quality solutions that surpass our customers' expectations and help them achieve their specific goals quickly and efficiently. When it comes to APIs, our team is more than equipped to meet this challenge. TIBCO Mashery Enterprise extends the traditional definition of API management, with bolstered capabilities supporting an API platform for the entire API lifecycle. We're happy to announce this new offering and continue working to raise the industry standard for API platforms.”

Additionally, TIBCO sent out its own director of digital strategy Rob Zazueta to the All About the API show to deliver a keynote address at 11:00 a.m. PT, titled “The Platform of Tomorrow: Preparing for the Future of Business Today!” Zazueta's address will not only discuss APIs and cloud technology in general, but will also offer up some insight on what TIBCO is doing in this vein. TIBCO Mashery Enterprise will get some face time here as well.

APIs are lending a lot of help to digital development these days, which makes these more attractive to business users. When it's easier to get a new product developed, or have features added to a product that might not have been there, it becomes possible to get new competitive advantages in the field. One firm might use APIs to get a first-mover advantage, while others might use APIs to improve the overall experience or offer more value. With so many options, it's easy to see why companies turn to these systems.

It's a safe bet that Mashery Enterprise will find plenty of users in the field, as businesses seek an advantage to put to use. A firm that provides advantages as part of its product line, meanwhile, likely won't go wanting for business itself.
